They Meet Again...at Last

The house was quiet except for the soft sounds of ocean waves crashing against it's shore. Natalie Cole's "Unforgettable" whispers from the stereo. The candles she lit only minutes before cast dreamy shadows on the walls; those shadows seductively dance as the breeze flows in from the windows overlooking the bay. With hands folded behind her head, she rests her head upon the collection of pillows in the corner of the sofa. Eyes closed, she lazily thinks back to that special day so long ago when she met him for the very first time.

They met at her office just briefly and when she reached across the room to introduce herself and shake his hand, a feeling instantly enveloped her, one as if she'd known him always. His deep blue eyes sought hers and held them for what seemed a lifetime. His endearing smile touched her in a way like no other. His call this morning brought back those memories. He was in town for a meeting and wanted to take her to dinner.

She continued to lay on the sofa attempting to relax for she knew once he arrived her heart would beat wildly and she would not be able to contain her emotions; that one brief meeting defined the remainder of her life. How could she explain the feelings that sprang from her heart like the new daffodils in spring? She tried to nap in anticipation of the planned evening ahead.

In the other room stood the table dressed for the evening’s entertainment. The blue tapers slowly melted; the wax dripping like tears. The china, the crystal and silver waited. The salads were chilled, nestled in the fridge. The salmon were wrapped and waiting for the grill. She's going through the checklist in her mind. The champagne is chilled, the hors d'oeuvres are ready and she waits. The clock is ticking and she becomes more nervous. She remembers an underlying sexual tension between them. While he phoned and e-mailed over the years, there was always an indescribable feeling she couldn't quite put her finger on when it came to him. Her thoughts would become erotic and energizing yet drain her of that very energy at the same time. It was exhausting. Could she have fallen in love with him in that brief meeting so many years ago? He was now available and she longed to see him again to see if the attraction was reciprocated.

Earlier this evening as she ran her bath, she poured in her favorite Plumeria bath bubbles. The aroma of fresh blooming flowers with a hint of an exotic perfume wafted in the air to tantalize her sensations. She then lit each candle outlining the perimeter of the tub. A warm, golden glow spread across the room. The robe slipped to the floor as she stepped into the tub; the warmth of the water enveloped her as she slid down ever so slowly as if wrapped in a cocoon. She lay there with her head back, eyes closed and arms by her side. Breathing slowly, the tensions eased from her mind, her back, and her shoulders. Yes, she needed these moments here to reflect on the years and to ask herself if she made the right decision by agreeing to see him tonight.

She saw him only one other time after that unforgettable meeting. They met for a drink one evening to celebrate the closing of a real estate deal. He was witty and funny, yet shy and personable. He was tall with salt and pepper hair and she'll never forget those riveting eyes the color of a cloudless sky. Those penetrating eyes seemed to call her name and made her breathless. They had a wonderful evening and he asked her to stay for dinner. She would attempt to recreate that dinner this evening hoping the ambiance would be the same and rekindle the moments of long ago. She remembers the after dinner coffee and dessert. He said the cheesecake was just for her as he knew it to be her favorite. Funny, she didn't think to ask him then how he knew of her cheesecake fetish. They enjoyed a lingering evening and as he walked with her to her awaiting car, he wrapped her hand in his and squeezed gently. She was a bit surprised, yet when she looked into his eyes, she read them so clearly and leaned in to kiss him. She remembered his left hand applying gentle pressure to the back of her neck. As he pulled her closer, his lips sought hers and his tongue separated her lips to taste her as he'd dreamt over the past months. Her arms came around his neck and she felt his body pressing into her, urging her and exciting her more than she could ever imagine. Just as quickly, she remembered he was leaving town and forcibly pulled herself from his grasp. Her lips were red and bruised; she was ashamed she let it go this far. As he apologized to her, she rather urgently grabbed for her keys to open the door only to drop them to the ground. He was there instantly retrieving them and asking for her forgiveness.

That was the last time she saw him and now she reflects and wonders does he remember each moment as she does? Did he get dizzy? Did he see those same stars that floated behind her eyelids? The world stopped, however briefly, but she knew it stopped. There was no sound, no on-coming traffic, no horns blowing, only two people embraced in an urgent kiss of surrender.

Tonight she had a plan… A plan of seduction to win him over. She only hoped she did not become the victim. She awoke with a jolt to a knock sounding at the door. Her heart was racing with anticipation and, as she stood, she readjusted her clothing and pressed out the wrinkles. She gave herself one last critical look in the mirror before answering the door. Was this neckline too low? Is this skirt too short? Will he see right through me? As she opened the door, she was shocked at the site of him. He was just the same as she remembered; she, however, had gone through so many hairstyle and hair color changes she'd lost count. It was the riveting stare that made her speak her words of welcome. As she stepped back to allow him into the room, he immediately pulled her into his arms and hugged her. His hug, as if an act of desperation, was his reward and he came to claim it.

She offered him his favorite drink and she picked up her glass of Merlot. As she raised her glass to her lips, his hand found her cheek and he told her how much he missed her. She was at a loss for words. She led him to the dining room and dinner was uneventful with news of his travels filling the hours. The candles wept further and he thought it a shame as it was ruining the tablecloth. What did it matter? He was here with her, hers alone.

She pushed her chair from the table and poured another glass of wine and refilled his glass as well. She led him to the big, comfortable sofa in the family room. Almost immediately, she was in his arms with an urgent need to fulfill the lost moments of the long time that had passed due to his absence. Her lips found his and she kissed his eyelids and his nose. She leaned over to kiss his ear and nibble at his neck. She spent time kissing the length of his neck and her tongue traced a seductive line down to his shoulders. He was tense and this evening she planned to soothe each and every nerve...ever so slowly. She was aware of his heavy breathing and the urgency with which he kissed her. She did not want this event to be hurried in any way.

She pulled away his shirt and kneaded his shoulders placing kisses along his back and down his spine. As she kissed him full on the mouth, his hands found the buttons of her blouse and it was tossed to the floor. He took her into his mouth and ravished her as the pleasure enveloped her body. She had never experienced such pleasure, never knew it could be like this. His touch was mesmerizing. He pulled her up from the sofa and as the zipper slid down, the skirt fell softly to the floor; she fumbled with his belt. Who made these things, she thought? He stepped out of his pants and paused to just look at her. She was beautiful. Her skin was so soft and supple. He could feel her muscles twitching with excitement.

He held her hand and guided her to the stairwell, whispering words of encouragement for her to follow. She paused on the stairwell; she would soon find out it was her favorite place to kiss him. She loved standing on that bottom step so she could be closer to his height, so their bodies could fit more closely in all the right places. She wanted to drive him higher to that point of ecstasy and distraction.

She led him into her bedroom where more candles and a dreamy glow awaited them. The four-poster mahogany bed awaited them… the burgundy and gold comforter calling out to them; the pillows beckoning to them. The textures were rich and soft like her skin. He laid her on the bed and his hands roamed over her body leaving trails of tingling sensations. He lay beside her and pulled her into his arms. He kissed her neck and nibbled at her collarbone. His tongue found her ears. He traced the cords in her neck wanting to bring her more pleasure.

He'd thought of this moment for years now. He once had regrets of that passionate kiss they shared so long ago but now was not a time to reflect on those regrets but to enjoy the moments they now have and to bring pleasure into their lives. He thought himself a considerate lover wanting her to enjoy every moment as their passion equaled no other he had ever experienced. His hands sought out her ribs and lightly tickled. His fingers grasped her kneading those desired aches into her body. She watched him as his hands brought pleasure to her body. She watched further as his hand slid down her thigh to spread her legs. He sought out the inner most warmth of her body. She was ready for him. Again, his mind thought back to the moment when he wondered if he would ever experience her like this. Her breathing became rhythmic as his fingers moved within her. She became more excited and soft moans escaped her lips. She pulled him to her and she kissed him with all the longing that had been bottled up inside her. He was more than ready for her and she took him in her hands and massaged him slowly. "No" was barely a whisper from his lips. He wanted only to fulfill her every need. He wanted this to be an experience she would never forget. Her hands moved urging him on further and exciting him even more. She guided him in slowly, mindful that he was nearly bursting with excitement.

Her hips began to rock urging him to move faster. He was torturously slow, wanting to enjoy every second, every part of her being. He kissed her and his tongue danced wildly with hers and their movements became hurried and their breathing became haggard. He wanted her to be satisfied but he did not know how much longer he could last. Too much time had passed and too much fantasizing had occurred. He had to think of something else, get his mind off of wanting nothing more than to explode inside of her. With that thought, her back arched and he heard her raspy breaths and "Oh, yes. Yes. You feel wonderful." He drives deeper and faster and tries to keep a steady pace. She begins to move even faster as their bodies meet and echo through the shadows.

Are you ready? he says.

Yes. Now.

He drives as deep as he can and they come together as one. He rocks slowly as this agonizing, yet thrilling feeling overtakes him. He can barely think. He collapses beside her and pulls her into his arms, kissing her and hugging her tightly. She nestles her head into the crook of his shoulder and a contented sigh escapes her lips. He smiles into the darkness and she feels it spread across her temple. His dream has come true. She is here with him as it should have been so long ago.

Her arms come around his neck and, breathlessly, she kisses him deeply and lovingly. She’s thinking: my dream has come true. He is here with me as it should have been so long ago. Everything is as it should be...at last.
